I Found Out Our Star Patches Reflect UV Light… by Accident 🤭

Hi everyone! Felipe here, founder of Patch Project.
I want to share a little story from when I first started testing designs for our star patches. I had no idea that the holographic material we chose would do something amazing: reflect UV light!
That realisation hit me during a beach trip to Byron Bay with friends. I had packed the stars, and we wore them while tanning. After a few hours in the sun (yes, we used sunscreen), one of my friends turned lobster red 🦞… except for one perfect star shaped patch on his chest 😂

That untouched little star spot was what made me dig deeper. I found out that the holographic film we use reflects light so well, it can help keep UV from reaching the skin underneath.
If you’ve ever noticed that post-pimple dark spot, you’re not alone, that’s often caused by UV exposure while the skin is still healing. The sun triggers melanin, which can leave behind hyperpigmentation.

So now, I always wear a holographic star pimple patch during the day if I’ve got something coming up, it looks cute, it soothes and it shields the skin against UV rays.
